BLOG: 14 JANUARY 2016
LOOKING FOR ANOTHER REASON TO DEAL WITH CHINA IN BUSINESS? WELL, HERE IT IS...
The first week of January saw Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and British counterpart Phillip Hammond meet in Beijing, with a vow for more cooperation between their two countries – a New Year’s Resolution for the both of them perhaps? In addition to promised cooperation, it was also said they will work together on visa facilitation, in a step towards relaxing visa rules between Britain and China.
Multiple-entry visas for up to two years will reciprocally be issued to each other’s citizens, with hope for that to increase to 10 years for Chinese citizens, changes which will not only strengthen the ties between Britain and China, but also make it much easier for British citizens to deal with China in business. Being something we mentioned in a previous blog, this softening of visa rules between the two countries has coincided with the announcement direct flights being secured between Manchester and Beijing, making it easier still to connect with China through business.
Talks from the recent meeting also included pledges for increased cooperation in nuclear power, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, high-speed rail, and finance. With all of this in mind, it seems to be the ties between the UK and China are increasingly strengthening, giving even further reason why 2016 is the year to deal with China in business.
